But with the introduction of SMART control from Caravan Park Electrical Services it is now possible to overcome this and offer you the flexibility and control you need, without leaving your office.

You can from your computer:

• Set the tariff
• Load credit onto a re-usable card using the card loading station.
• Set the validity date to the time period the customer is staying.
• Set a deposit scheme which is returned at the same time as the card.
• See outstanding un-used credit.

You can from the pedestal:

• Choose your socket outlet.
• Download credit onto your chosen socket.
• Return un-used credit to the card.

The card can then be returned to reception and the balance read on the loading station.  Each SMART control system has a unique encryption key making it completely secure.  The control system card can only have outstanding credit returned to it from the socket previously selected.  Each control system card is re-useable time and time again.

• Automatic e-mail and SMS notifications. This could be to warn your customers of a low account balance and, if in pre-pay, advise them to top up. Alternatively notifications can be automatically sent to your maintenance department to warn about problems with connection points around your park.

SMART Metering and management information

A Meter-MACS system will eliminate the need to visit meters simply to collect current meter readings or to check that there are no faults. Even if the meters are hundreds of miles away the information you need is already synced to your computer.

The Control Unit featured here has a 16A inlet mounted on the base of the enclosure. A 30mA RCD and 10A MCB offers switching and protection of up to two 13A socket outlets. A further 6A MCB protects the two bulkhead lights and can be placed each up to 5 metres away from the Control Unit.

The connection to your supply is then via the usual Arctic Grade Flex connection lead.

The Pro75 meter is one of the smallest din rail mounted 100Amp single phase meters on the market and is now installed within all our metered residential, holiday and touring units.  The Pro75 is OFGEM and MID approved which overall means it meets both UK and European standards relating to the level of accuracy when billing your customers.

If you’re looking to take more control of your parks electricity output you may also want to look at pre-payment card meters, or for the ultimate control our SMART metering systems.  Both of these systems can be used on residential, holiday and touring parks.  The card meter can be programmed to your own electricity rate and credit is then added using CPES coded £1, £5, £10 or £20 disposable cards.

As an NICEIC registered contractor we undertake periodic inspection reports for electrical installations on holiday, park home and touring parks throughout the United Kingdom using the 17th Edition of the IEE wiring regulations.  This forms the backbone of the requirements for all electrical installations with a section applicable to our industry.  Further ‘guidance notes’ publications have also been issued which are applicable.

The general rule of thumb is that park external electrical installations require a periodic inspection report at the following intervals:

Holiday Parks – Every 3 years.

Touring Parks – Every year.

Park Home Parks – Every 3 years (with the exception of overhead installations).
